This song is included as much for the song itself as it is for the pipe organ!

Songs of the Day: O Holy Night & Sleigh Ride
This year, one of my students asked what my favorite Christmas songs were. When I really thought about it, I could only narrow it down to two:
1. O Holy Night: The lyrics of this song always challenge me to remember the significance of Christmas. December 25th isn’t just about a baby being born, but about God relinquishing the comfort of Heaven to spend a lifetime on Earth to be killed in order to save us from a lifetime apart from God. The word ‘holy’ means ‘set apart for a special purpose’, so Jesus’ birth is definitely a special night!
2. Sleigh Ride: This song has so many special memories for me. Every year, the Coast Guard Band would have their Christmas Concert and invite my dance teacher to choreograph something for a selection of their music. My favorite moment of every concert was when they would play Sleigh Ride; I would sneak into the wings, close my eyes, and know that Christmas was here!

Songs of Christmas: Breath of Heaven
I don’t voluntarily listen to this song very often; it always brings me to the brink of all out bawling. It’s probably one of the few modern Christmas songs that gets it right.
This version is combined with scenes from The Nativity Story to encourage the listener to contemplate what Jesus’ birth really means.
